Anyone with first hand experience with Carbotech Panther Plus pads or Porterfield R4-S pads? I tried the KVR pads and was so unimpressed (even at track temperatures) that I switched back. Thanks. Eric

I would say Carbotech pads. I just replaced these pads and they stop your car on a dime; however, there is alot of brake dust that is generated with these pads. Never had experience with the other pad.

Thanks for the recommendation - their website lists them at $179 I believe - what did you pay and where did you get them from? How do the Panther Plus's fare when cold, i.e. panic stop after have been cruising? By the way, the Porterfields list at $89.99 so I'm still very interested in hearing from anyone with those. Thanks again. Eric

I spoke to the guys at Carbotech last week, very informative. They had me fax a tracing of my existing pad to check availablity. Because I have the later ie smaller pad on my 99 the price is only $139 for the Panther plus. They were also very supportive of a group buy. I am also going to check with them about sending my old backing plates that they can adhere their pad compound to, might tbe a little cheaper. 99% sure I'll get carbotech's also with a set of Frozen Rotor full faced rotor's. I also am very unimpressed with the KVR's.

Did the $139 price come from Carbotech directly? Their website lists $179 for the fronts and $138 for the backs. Eric

The $139 was from Carbotech direct via the phone. That is for the E1 pads, the $179 web price is for the larger E0 pads. I'll be checking with them again to see if the price will less if I supply my old backing plates. They grind off the old material and bond their's on. I'll post here what I find out.

I spoke with Larry at Carbotech (877-899-5024) and reconfirmed the $139 price. They will discount 2 sets 10%, 3 sets 15%, this is for an individual buyer. He also reinterated a group buy possibility. The part number is D745 for the later style pad and D762 for the EO pad (these are $179). They can resurface your old backing plates, that's what I will be doing, he wasn't sure of the cost reduction.
