Here's what I've found:
When you go into your View/Update Profile page, the UBB URL links (and other codes) get turned into HTML. Unfortunately, you can't enter HTML into your sig directly, so you have to revert it back to UBB code manually. It seems that the Forum software converts the UBB code into HTML behind the scenes on us.
