...don't ask, the original subject was just 2 boring~
The more & more I read about what cars are in what country the more it seems America is slipping as far as the performance aspec of cars. I mean Australia has really surprised me, big V8 powered RWDs - cars we've never even seen & prolly never will. Europe & Japan have also stepped up. It seems all the "muscle cars" are dieing out and we get shafted with the lower "americanized" versions of overseas wonders. I mean the Z06 has its birth place, the mustang is slowly stepping up and the vipers there but cost so much. We got the HO trucks don't get me wrong but then again were the only ones that have trucks this big. ex: Civic Si - alright - sooner or later R RSX-S - again alright - sooner or later R WRX - totaly BA BUT no STI - sooner or later... Lancer - oz package, um no.... - EVO 8? why no 7 240sx - nice looker but no altezza GTI - 337 but no R32, USA:"um 4motion whats that?" SVT Focus - nice, racey but no Cozzy RS GTP - alright, no comidor(sp) - soon to be GTO ?????? - um falcon, why wern't we told about this? ContourRIP - ss220 mondeo , makes no sense The more I wine & complane it seems really only the Japs are toss'n leftovers - Germans seem to keep the US in mind, we get all the Ms & Zs, all the AMGs , specialty US models like the new SR6(RS6?) and the rest of the audi S's - anyway time to move to Europe, I'll just have to buy my trucks in good ol USofA. :p

First thought would be: Emissions, but that can't be it: Big SUVs, Big Trucks.
Second thought would be: The market for them isn't there, but who doesn't like lots a horse power and torque?
I just recently rented a Cavalier, and I have to tell you: Nothing scares me more then flooring a car when merging or passing, and having nothing really happen. Sure the transmission kicked down, and the engine got little louder, but what I really wanted was to go faster.

Um, we get the Altezza, it's called the IS300 :p .
I've read that the Evo 8 will be designed for all markets so hopefully they'll be able to give us the hottest version. The 7 supposedly wasn't going to pass the crash tests with the front mounted i/c, so they would've had to detune the car.
I'd like to see the Legacy B4 Blitzen and the new Skyline GTR whenever that comes out. The Focus RS still isn't out in Europe.
An F-Body or a Mustang Cobra (especially an 03)would destroy the majority of these cars. And don't forget the Viper and Vette, cars that are primarily available only in the US. I think it's just a case of the grass is always greener on the other side, heh.

SUVs don't go by the same emissions as cars, and there is no gas guzzler tax on them either. That will all change IIRC in 2005.

The Altezza in japland is a IS220 - 4clyd turbo 6speed - yes we have been blessed with the toyo 3.0 ltr but only with a 5speed auto, soon to be man. but no turbo.
And I love ford and love what they've done with the new cobras but the new cobra is the ONLY f-body, minus high-priced vettes/vipers that could take on a Evo7,STI or Altezza. The front driver 4 bangers - Civic-R,RSX-R,"soon to come RS Focus" can easily out handle unless you sport a DOHC-R.
It seems america is making it easy to buy a long-lasting semi-sports car FWD/AWD and putting a larger price tag on the RWD V8s -

To most 'gear heads' in the US, a "performance car" is either a modern V8 pony car or any V8 coupe over 30 years old. See how popular NASACR is, it reinforces it.
But, with the rising "import/compact scene", things will eventually change.
That is one of the missions of CEG, to show that not all fun cars have to be drag racing V8/RWD's.
2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO. Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!
