what are the best brakes for a 99 SVT. I was told to stay away from crossdrilled. B/c I use this car all year around and snow can get stuck in the holes. I want the best brakes that will fit under stock rims and will look good and stop me the best. Thanks in advance

how about some premium rotors from like BAT. anyone with experience on these. i've heard the econo rotors from BAT suck. i think u can also get brembo rotors that r not slotted/crossdrilled
...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

"As I get on the 707..." I can't possibly see why anyone would pass up cross-drilled and/or slotted rotors except for the fact that if they warp, you now have an expensive set of round paper weights, as they can't be "turned" or re-surfaced. Considering the concept that brakes stop cars by turning the KE (motion, or kinetic energy) of a car into heat, why would you think a little snow in the holes would hurt? Frosty will disappear the first time you stop from 50 mph at that light on Main St... Good place to start... Check the mods page for more sound advice

Zetec.....I see your point of view on this I am just going from what I have heard on other bulletins....you are right in saying that, but how long do they last in respect to normal rotors. I need something that I can use and not worry about getting warped after 1 year, like I have heard about with X-drilled Justin

They should last just as long as regular rotors if broken in correctly. Which means be gentle for the firt 500 miles. At least that what I do. I just put Autospecialty X-drilled and slotted and love them.

Drilled rotors are prone to cracking around the holes. You may or may not have a problem with this, depending on how you drive, but it is a limitation. In my opinion, there is no benefit to drilled rotors for street use, except for looks. If you are hard on rotors, you may wish to consider having the rotors frozen. Take a look at www.frozenrotors.com This may help drilled rotors to hold up better.

Andy, Where did you get your rotors and pads and did you get them on all four or just front or what?? I need to get some new brakes and I need to start seriously looking at my options. Did you do the froze rotor thing?? Does that actually work I have never heard of it before. Thank you Justin

They actually advertise them as brembo's but they are KVR or Autospecialty. I got the Rotors thru a group buy for 80 each. We do 75% of our braking wiht the fron so I didn't bother with the rears. I still have the originals on there. The pads I got from Joe at SP. I like them so far but I put the rotors on wrong, so im going to switch them and hope they don't get f'ed up. A friend told me one way and everyone else told me the other. I listened to the friend, DOH!
