OK, my big brake kit B came in today (SS brakelines are on backorder mad ). In the box with the Mintex 1144 pads are 4 adhesive backed rubber-like pads. What are those for? The instructions in with the pads don't mention them. Are they for anti-rattle purposes?

You should call BAT and ask.

It sounds like you are talking about brake pad shims. They go between the caliper and the backing plate on the pads. They cut vibrations that cause rattles and squeels. If they were included in the box then they are probably really necessary.

Some shims have an adhisive backing that helps them stick to the backing plate. There is usually a protective cover (paper or plastic film) that needs to be removed. Once the shims are mounted to the backing plates they should be lubricated with caliper slide grease where they come in contact with the caliper. Make sure that you also lubricate any other part of the backing plate that comes in contact with the caliper as well as the caliper slide pins and (if your caliper has it) the caliper slides.

Let us know what you think of the 1144 pads.
