I am going to replace my front rotors very soon. Can you guys please help narrow my choices down a bit. I was thinking of getting either crossdrilled or slotted (Leaning towards slotted)

-PowerSlot
-Brembo or KVR? (I remember hearing bad things about them? Anyone)
-PowerStop
-Autospecialty (SPmotorsports)
-BAT Premium

Also should I have them Cadnium plated this just helps rust correct?

THanks again for the help.

Justin

I'll be going Brembo soon. All that I've searched and read say that Brembo seem to be the best and most consistant quality.

This reminds me, someone messaged me about the Brembo rotors.

I had a set on my 99SE and they worked fine. I've logged about 25K on the set on my 87 Buick (Cross drilled et al.) and they are also fine.

FWIW.

Stay away from power stop, they tend to warp easily. All crossed drilled rotors can't be turned so if they warp there basically trash. Slotted are okay but I don't agree it's worth the extra cost. I found that stock rotors and premium brake pads such as mintex the best dollar value combo. I am sure that a lot of other would agree. Give me your feed back guys. If you are really convinced on buying after market performance rotors then I guess go with brembo.

Thanks for the feedback. I have heard that Powerstops warped easily. If I did decide to go with aftermarket rotors then... I guess its narrowed down to these in preferred order:

Powerslot
Brembo
BAT Premium

Anyone?

Thanks again.

There have been reports that BAT premiums are sometimes warped out of the box and that BAT will not stand behind them. They do warn you that nothing they sell has a warranty though.

Drilled rotors for street use are really just for looks. They don't really do anything for the stopping ability. They also crack around the holes so they will fail sooner than non drilled rotors. If you really feel that you want drilled rotors, you may want to consider have them cyrogenically tempered by someone like www.frozenrotors.com You may also want to have them cad plated to cut down on rust.

Thanks for the tips everyone.

Has anyone got EBC Discs, they look pretty cool and I noticed they are offered for the 96 - 00 mondeo's which means they are probably offered for the E0 contour since I think we have very simular brakes if not the same. Anyone?

I have narrowed them down to:

PowerSlot (Slotted)
Brembo(Slotted &/or Cross-drilled)
EBC(if offered)

Anyone have any thoughts about Cadnium plating is it worth the extra $

Thanks,

Justin

I don't know if the same thing happened in the states, but as far as I know, up here in Canada, the Brembo's and the KVRs were made in the same factory and were essentially the same rotor.

In normal driving, you will most likely not notice a difference with the cross-drilled. In wet weather you will notice much improved braking.

Cadmium plating will help resist corrosion, highly recommend for anyone that sees snow in the winter (along with the salty roads) or highly rain affected regions.

Ok so I have narrowed it down to:

PowerSlot Slotted(Cannot get in Platinum version = Cadnium coating)
$196 for both front

or

Brembo Slotted(Can get Cadnium coating)
$259 for for both front

I'm liking the PowerSlots!
What do you think?
