Small calipers, 11/17/99.

However... in comparing the templates of the two pad sizes, the differences are VERY minimal. Maybe 2%.

#365 of 2150. Our cars are 9 apart in the build and the size is different? confused

If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

Have you checked the pad templates in the BAT catalog? The description of what's big is a little confusing.

I had the BAT catalogue on my drive before it crashed and I reformatted.(long story) That is where I believe(although I could be wrong) that you need to specify your vehicle build date to buy pads due to the fact that they returned to the larger size for the last bit of contour production.

An older BAT catalog asked for dates. The newest one asks you to match with the templates.

Again, all this concern may be pointless. The "bigger" pads may not really be "bigger", only deeper and narrower. The "smaller" pads are longer and shallower.

The contact area is almost identical, and that's where the stopping power comes from (I think, not being an M.E.).

You are correct. Swept area is the most important thing. The area of the newer pad is more I believe.

I laid it out in CAD, based on the BAT catalog, which is 1:1. It seems that the newer pad is about 5-10% more swept area.

This is just a swag. However, I am sure that the newer pad is at least equal to the old pad in swept area.

Later,
Patrick
