Speed bleeders take the place of the bleeder screw on the calipers or wheel cylinders. They have a check valve built in so that they will not introduce air into the system. They permit you to bleed the brakes using the pump the pedal method without an assistant. With them you can open the bleed port, pump the pedal a few times, close the bleed port, and move on to the next wheel until all are done. They cost about $10.00 to $12.00 each. They seem to work well enough.
