My rotors were junk at 43,000 miles. They were so rusted to the hub that I had to use a very big hammer to pound them off, destroying them in the process.

Try using a good penetrating oil and some heat next time. If you have the chance, you can shoot it a few hours in advance with a good oil (my dad gets this 'Aero-Kroil' stuff from work, which blows circles around WD40. The oil and a rubber mallet should do the trick... Andrew 99 SVT Originally posted by 4cylmys: My rotors were junk at 43,000 miles. When you put the rotors back on, always apply a bit of anti sieze between the hub and the rotor including at the center where the rotor fits over the bearing so that it will be easier to remove next time. I was using penetrant. Thats how stuck those things were. They had never been removed from the car. I have seen several other Contours and Mystiques at work with the same problem. I used anti-sieze and the right front rotor came off easily on Saturday when I had to replace the wheel bearing.

You should get a brand new set after dip them in liquid nitrogen to make less space available between the molecules of the composite metal the brakes are made from. Then get a hammer and forge them to make them thinner, you'll see they will shine a little when they're thin enough.

I'm sorry, but for 144$ canadian, they are gonna keep their OEM rotors. Somehow, I put much more trust in Brembo or even Raybestos, and their rotors are priced at 70$.

Well I just put $29 dollar rotors on! My pads were $19. dollars. Lets see how these ultra cheap rotors and pads compare to Fords! So far no noise and brakes nice! Well see if being cheap is smart or if I got what I paid for (crap) Well see!!!!!

I think it's total luck whether you get good rotors or bad with the cheap stuff. I put good stuff on my car and they warped. I put cheap stuff on my girlfriends Escort and they didn't(and she drives like a maniac). My Explorer was perfect for 135,000 km, and all I did is change the pads. The stock rotors in my Celebrity warped, their cheapo Canadian Tire replacements lasted 50,000 km till I sold it. I'm looking for Brembo's this time cause my friend says they are the supplier for Audi. He has an A4 and as hard as he drives they are perfect too.
