..is the water pump on the SVT the same as a water pump on a regular V6? Always safest to check before buying.

Yes it's exactly the same. You could always get and electric one and eliminate the cam drag though.

Phil. I got one from Canadian Tire (I live out in Barrhaven)About $95.00 + the casting charge $15.00.It was not the metal one, but, the old unit packed it in at 208,000kms on my 95 duratec. The Ford logo was on the 'new' unit.

I am going metal in case that little cone decides to go and hits the impeller. I figure that gives me a better chance at getting her home in that case. Worth an extra few bucks in my mind.

If the cone goes it won't matter if your impeller is made of kryptonite, you're still going to overheat. Get the whole unit from Ford. Sure, it's $150 bucks but what's your motor worth?
