Yep, it's unfortunate. Citizens get all up in arms about police chases, blaming the police when they go wrong, somehow forgetting that it was the a$$hole being chased who is actually responsible for the outcome. Given that, you would think there would be wide-spread support for massive increases in the penalties for running from the police (in a vehicle), in order to curb the tendency to run. But hey, why try to find a solution to the problem when we can just keep suing the police? It's really sad. Hopefully, technology will one day give us the means to shut chases down early and avoid this problem all together.
