I was pointed to this thread by another forum member, considering C0NT0UR's sig and I am a police officer. All I have to say is that C0NT0UR is a complete moron for running from police, and some day will end up killing himself and likely someone else. Hopefully, it'll be just himself.

I think that people who run from cops in a vehicular chase should do 5 years for every person they pass (endanger). There should be no possibility of parole during that sentence, and it should not be allowed to run concurrent with any other sentence. Would make a lot of morons think twice about endangering innocent lives.

There are a lot of things all of us "think" should happen, but what are the chances of that ever happening? I'd think 5 years is too lenient. Lets shoot for 10. Nice to daydream though.

Yep, it's unfortunate. Citizens get all up in arms about police chases, blaming the police when they go wrong, somehow forgetting that it was the a$$hole being chased who is actually responsible for the outcome. Given that, you would think there would be wide-spread support for massive increases in the penalties for running from the police (in a vehicle), in order to curb the tendency to run. But hey, why try to find a solution to the problem when we can just keep suing the police? It's really sad. Hopefully, technology will one day give us the means to shut chases down early and avoid this problem all together.

I'd be happier of you would stop running from the police and endangering innocent lives. Happier still if you would stop giving the police a reason to chase you.

mad
