Hello all,
I just recently lived through a partial engine-rebuild job and I'm very curious, what your oil consumption is like.
I'm using Mobil 1 5W-30, always overfill half a quart, and my engine uses 1 quart per 1000 miles.
E0 SVT, Toreador red

My 98 Mondeo V6 ATX (170 Hp Duratec) with 44000 mls on it did not require any additional oil between the 9500mls (15000km) service intervals. It went from full to well abow low on the dipstick in that distance.
My current 2002 Mondeo with same engine seems to use more. But I do a lot of Autobahn driving now, and I keep it a lot above 5000 RPM. I had to top off 1 quart after 10000 km (car has 14000 km on it now). But this may be due to the initial breaking in phase, I don't know what it will be in the long run.

My car never needs extra oil.  Only during oil changes.

My dipstick doesn't show any usage between changes (5K mi.)

I read in an article somewhere that there was not a single warranty service for oil usage in the Contours in like the first two years of it being out there. They were pretty darn proud of it. If your's is using that mucch (vs it leaking somewhere?) I would guess something is definetly amiss with your rebuild.

No noticeable change in dipstick level after 6K miles using Mobil 1 Komrad!

77,000 miles and I've never had to add oil. Not a drop on the garage floor either (knock on wood).
