Moved from PA to Titusville exactly one year ago. KSandbergFL is right about the Melbourne area - actually most of Brevard County. Cost of living is definitely lower than up North. No State or Local income tax, and real estate taxes are quite reasonable. Brevard is a good location for commuting to a number of good job areas too. One thing we've learned is that things do tend to rot and rust a little quicker in this environment. But hey, the beaches are great places to relax and forget. Check out Playalinda Beach just north of the Space Center if you get a chance, no development National Seashore with Space Shuttles on the pad just over your shoulder.
btw: July is a good time to visit and see how you deal with the heat - my wife didn't come down until early August - baptized by fire!
