I was watching Motorweek last night and they where raggin on the Mercury Merauder, and their 0-60 was only 7.5? So that big, bad, boaty V-8 might barely run with stock SVT's..... and it's an automatic. So what's all the marketing excitment about? Does ford really think it's going to sell this boat at $35k as a "muscle-car" but without the muscle? Don't get me wrong, the car dont' look too bad if your into big cars, but I thought a "muscle-car" went fast..... :rolleyes:

I personally have hated the Maruader the day Ford said they would start production. Looks too much like a Crown Vic to me.

It's very similiar to the Police interceptors....
now that may appeal to some people....I can't
believe how Ford doens't have any car products
to offer people....the Focus is a kid's car,
the mustang is the mustang, the taurus looks like
a the company fleet car.....

That's crazy! I expected much more than that. How fast did the old Impalla SS's run? Those were fun cars.

That dissapoints me very much.  I thought those were going to be pretty badass, but it looks like ford is creating another vehicle that will get the axe after a couple years of production.
Old - 95.5 SE with lot's of mods.
New - 98 Black SVT with few mods.

no kidding. The marketing is pumping it up as being all fast and all, but it's really just a big loaf of poo with leather seats :p

yeah, the marauder is kinda slow-ish for waht it claims to be....
but if my dad wanted one instead of his continental - i certainly wouldn't stop him!!
it's a sweet looking car for an older dude

motor trend magazine has 0 to 60 at 6.8 and 1/4 mile time at 15.4 at 92 mph..which i think is pretty respectable for a boat..i also think its a pretty cool car(not that i want one or anything)but i think its a good idea,and turned out pretty good..saw one at the dealer i deliver to yesterday,and it is alot cooler in person..and as for smoking it in your tour,maybe from a dead stop....but unless you have an svt,if its anything like the impala ss,takes off like a boat from a dead stop,but once its rolling,runs pretty strong,will probably smoke you..that thing is heavy,but has alot of hp and torque...anways i think its pretty cool(not really my cup of tea though)but i think it is a very good idea,and looks pretty cool..
