So my dad is getting a new car (VW Jetta), and low and behold, part of the price of the car is a $500 emissions charge! The dealer said it was the same as the California vehicle requirements, and that MD is now requiring the same/similar standards. This might have been true for a while, but I just found out and thought it was interesting. Those emissions requirements end up slightly knocking down the engine output don't they?
