I don't think I'll be able to make it to this, but I can help a little with rough directions.
I used to make it from roughly the area the picnic is in to Red Lion, PA (if you know where that is) in about an hour and a half.
To come from I-70 to 270 I used the following roads: Rt. 27 south (~25 miles) to Rt. 355 south (less than 2 miles) to Rt. 118 south (~5 miles) . It's a back road type short cut that keeps you from heading all the way out to Frederick before coming back in towards DC to Father Hurley. Rt. 27 is pretty well marked because you have to make a couple turns here and there to stay on it and the other two are easy and quick to put you on 270.
I *think* you have to come south on 270 to get to Father Hurley from the 118 exit, but don't quote me on that. Hope that helps a little.
