My biggest complaint about Ford in recent years has been the lack of sporty compact cars. Not unlike everybody here I'm sure, I prefer a smaller car to an overloaded SUV. So if you look at the lineup now, what options do we have? Focus? I think not, not V6 ( I like torque ) Taurus? No 5-speed. Mustang? Maybe, but not as practical as the contour certainly is.

Many of the imports car companies have that 4-door sports car in their lineup that Ford doesn't have.

Maxima, Altima, TL and RL IS300 Accord V6...etc. It seems sometimes that Ford forgets that there are people out there that want to buy a domestic car, but are forced to look elsewhere, because Ford has deceided to put on their SUV goggles.(not unlike beer goggles)

Either way I got my SVT and I am hanging on to it.

Two inaccuraccies:

1. "The X-type uses "over 20%" of the contour."

No, it uses the current European Mondeo platform which is all new, since 2001 model year. I don't know the code for it.

2. "Ford spent 6 Billion to bring them to the states...:

No, Ford spent that much to bring out the cars for the entire global market! I read that most of it was waste, like many trips back and forth to Europe from US for "meetings". Airfare alone for these "paid vacations" must have been costly.

The Mopar 'Cloud cars' were borrowed heavily from LH cars, and they used cheap parts. But, they were only meant for the US.

To get a sport sedan, we have to wait for a Ford version of Mazda's 6, which maybe 2006! Too long!

2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO.
Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!
