i have been flying the 3'X5' flag off the back of my van on holidays, since i bought the van in '96.

I also started flying it on the afternoon of 9/11.
It is taken off at night and in bad weather.
That became a hastle so i painted one on the side of the van...that one won't come off unless i repaint the van, and then i will put it right back on..

(edit) and yeas there is a flag on my tour, and its not coming off..faded tint or not.

So, how many of you bashing this guy caught this? Did you just see solefood21's response and decide to jump on the bandwagon? How about some benefit of the doubt; g'damn![/b]

I removed mine just two days ago ... but my car does NOT have tint. The reason I did is because my flag's stripes started turning orange. (I had two, small flags printed from the computer and discreetly taped inside on both lower sides of the rear window.) This fading, especially with a comparison offered by my T-red Contour, really wasn't looking too well.

Before anyone jumps at me: When I have more time I'd like to print another small one and put it up on one side - to replace those two.

Until then, the patriotism remains in my heart and in my actions... not on my car.

Thanks everyone for the support, as for you guys who think im a trendy b@stard... thats too bad, because to me, you seem like the kind of people that are never happy. So what if there is a "rally around the flag effect", happens during ever war and especially during this war which has hit us at home. the comment: "there doesn't seem to be a line as to how far people will go in order to be part of the accepted norm" granted, there may be people who think displaying the flag is the cool thing to do, But dont generalize. i think most people felt like they needed to show their support for their country and what better than display the flag proudly..trendy or not. its not like everyone is burning afgan flags, we are displaying the flag, its a good thing.

This issue has gotten blown way out of proportion on the boards. I was mainly speaking on the commercialization of the American flag. The "rally around the flag" effect is a beautiful thing and it enlightens me to see our country's citizens take this approach. I guess the best way to sum up the view that I was trying to bring across is this. I read an editorial article not long after the tragedy on Sept. 11th, and the author, from New York, stated how she saw a "soccer mom" eagerly rush to a street vendor so she could purchase a t-shirt bearing the US flag. Sometimes it takes a person actually being in a certain situation to understand the full effect of what is going down, but in the article it was beautifully put that the "soccer mom" at hand was just trying to jump on the latest craze and be the first at the next PTA meeting to have the symbol displayed.

AGAIN, if you read the title of this thread, and even just the first post (which I was the second poster) you can see, if you want to, where I was coming from. Obviously, when you read on, there is a bit more explaining from both sides and true intentions realized.

That's a shame that you feel that way just towards the ones who share a different viewpoint. But then again, that's just life in general.

Mushu's pretty cool too!

Finally some sense comes to this post. Rock on hunymobile. I don't disagree with solefood, but the comment was misplaced and misdirected. Where's the love. W3rd

Midnight Red 95 SE, bone stock due to the fact that flight school is not cheap. I suppose I could have picked an easy major like communication, but where's the fun in that?
