Not sure if you guys have seen this yet, but I'll post it anyway. I like those solid motor mounts, probably have no wheelhop at all on that Cougar. Also notice where they mount the Accusump, I wonder how they manage to do that!

Indeed.. Robert, who races this car, is cool as hell. I got to see him race at Road America last weekend.. And since he lives like 5 minutes from me, I went to his house once to check out the cougar.. Very cool and friendly person!

Saw that car and Leo Capaldi's car as well also at Road America. Took lots of photo's of Leo's car and I'll have them posted here later this week - including a shot of his solid motor mounts. smile

If I had a turbo in my car I would be real worried about the trans striping gears off. If there doing it with an all motor 2.5. Given its probably putting 270 at the wheels. Also motor mounts would be another thing I would be worried about. If you could get some of those solid ones that would be sweet.

EXACTLY what I'm wondering, use a quaife gear kit with a full lube and cool system, I would think that it would take care of a 300hp car, long durations of 8000 rpms are just plain hard on stuff though.

Leo has ones of the stronger trannies but driving a race car has a lot of demands. I personally talk to Leo about the set up and he get R&D from Ford Racing. just to give you an idea of the money he expend on this tranny he pay about $900 per gear and he now used a Torsen LSD ( he used to have Quaife) He has the same set up as the FR200 Focus.

I'm sure the extra lubing is good but isn't the shear torque and horsepower grinding the gears off not overall fatigue?

The transmissions they use are considerably stronger than any bulldog box will ever be. They use fully custom gears (not the quaife ones) and yeah they are extremely expensive.
