...I had my Koni "yellows" and Eibach springs (that I purchased in the shox.com deal) installed. I'm quite impressed with the ride thus far, but I understand (from reading other posts) that it will get more smooth over time. The handling is even better than what I expected.

I don't have any pictures yet; besides, how many of you want to see a picture of a dirty 'Tour?

I feel that I paid a reasonable price for the labor (installation and a four-wheel alignment). I do not have my OE SVT springs and struts, but if you are interested in obtaining them, please send an e-mail to fauxbadboy@yahoo.com. I'll see if I can pick them up (assuming that the installer hasn't thrown them away).

Thanks Eric (jessneric).

I want to give "props" to my installer, AutoThority (3769-A Pickett Road, Fairfax, VA; 703.323.6000). They did an excellent job, they back up their work with a 12 month/12K mile warranty, and -- most importantly -- the (actual) price of the installation was well below the estimated price.

If you live in the DC area and if you don't want to do the spring and strut installation yourself (it's definitely not for the faint-of-heart), I recommend going to AutoThority. They'll treat you right.

Reg E, the spring and strut install is very easy to do if you have the help of another person. Well congrats all you need now is some rims...

Antonio.... you call that easy?!?!? I wouldn't say it was difficult, but not something to take on if you aren't confident in your mechanical abilities. Something to try if you have a friend handy and you'ev done one or two things to your car before.

Dan: AutoThority charged me $370 (rounded up) for the installation and four-wheel alignment. They originally estimated the work at $500.

Antonio: Thank you for the advice, but I rather pay a professional to do it (at least I have a limited warranty should anything go wrong). No, I really don't need new rims; I like my factory wheels just fine. 18" wheels are not my cup of cappucino (and bigger doesn't necessarily imply better).

bigwalton: My sentiments exactly.

Sorry for the long signature; I don't use this every time I post.

Hey Reggie,

What are the current stats and condition of your probe? pics and price? A friend of mine has an old probe which needs some work, and may be interested in yours if it will cost him less in the long run.

Jesse,

My Probe GT (first generation, turbocharged engine) is in good running condition. It has about 185K on the original engine (no rebuilds). It definitely needs repainting (tiny spots of rust are on the front, but you have to be close to the car to see them). I'm "throwing in" the brake pads (front and rear), the water pump, and the timing belt (which needs changing) that I bought a while back (but haven't had the time to perform the repairs). Tires were replaced last summer with the last of BFGoodrich Comp T/A VR4s that were made in the OE size. Transmission was rebuilt at 110K; clutch hydraulic unit was rebuilt at about 120K.

I'll try to post pictures in the Probe forum by the end of the week; my "handle" on that forum is "89GTbyReg."

If you need pictures sooner than that, send an e-mail to...well, you (personally) know where to send it to.

Update: Click on the PhotoPoint logo to see a picture of my Probe:
