even by hand, a properly prepared surface - works wonders. A few weeks back, I did my car, and there were no visible swirl marks on the 5yr. old paint. not bad considering it's black too!
granted - most Swirl Mark Removers really only "hide" the swirls - as a buffer and some real good compounding is the only real way to rid yourself of those swirls. Hiding the swirls usually last a very long time as long as you don't go washing your car with a plastic bristled brush or something....
The orbital polisher is a very safe and effective tool in detailing the paint on your car.
