Was it the $900 speakers? I'd file for as a last ditch resort. You think things are screwed up now? Just wait. Can't you sell the car and drive a Yugo for a while?

I have a freind of mine that filed bankruptcy. he kept his car and bought another car a month later so he had 2 cars. Now 3 years later he traded one car in for a brand new minivan. Why not keep the car? I hate to see people torn away from their good cars. ....Brad

I think that only works if you already own the car outright.. If you're still making payments, you're SOL.

http://www.bankruptcyaction.com/okexemptions.htm That says what they can't take. Car has to be under $3,000 in value. Wanna trade cars, Tim How do those AmeriDebt type places work? Do they consolidate your payments can stuff? Have you tried those types of places to see what they can do for ya? Tried calling the credit card companies to see if they can work you out some sort of deal? Exhausted all possible options?

As long as you're making payments, what's the big deal? Living at home and eating SPAM should allow for extra money to pay down the debts. Lay off the $1000 set of speakers and you'll be alright. Ebay helps, too.
