Well as stated in a different post. My CEL came on. Check it with a code reader and it tripped the code....
P0420 CATALYST EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD (BANK 1)
Upon searching through the CEG. I see that many people have had this issue. Apparently there is an 8 yr. 80k miles warrenty on the Converter.
Does anyone know about this ?
Hey Corey did you ever get your issue resolved ??
I cleared the code so know i have to drive the car to try to get the code to come up again. I have 77k on the car so hopefully I can get this taken care of curtiousy of Ford.

I've been driving with it on for about 20k miles. Still getting 25mpg, still good power. I'll be hitting 97k miles tomorrow. There's nothing to lose sleep over.

if you reset it...the code will come back eventually...i know this  since i have a SC on my car i DOUBT they would fix my cats under warrantee, so what i did was get an extra set of manifolds, and gutted them...now they just need to be put on the car

well F**k it, I might as well get it taken care of while its on Fords tab. Also i need a sticker, mine has been expired for some time now.. and will i beable to pass without that thing working ?

Mike, any ford dealer is required by federal law to replace the cats if they STB before 8 yr or 80K mile. i just had all 3 of mine replaced. teh only prob is they take about a week to get the new ones. just bring it in and have it done.
corey, unless they can prove that a mod you did had a direct effect on the damaged part, then the warrty is not void. and since this is a federal warranty i am sure wthey will replace them

ohh hell yeah!!!! thanks for the info guys... now as soon as the CEL comes back on im making an appointment and not at Sarat in Agawam.. I think im going to head down to Enfield Ford.

YES the emission system warranty, mandated by the Federal Government is good for 8 yrs 80,000 miles on all cars built after a certain date.
You converters will be replaced at no charge to you.
