I was driving with Lisa in the SVT - and decided to pass by a friends house.....In order to get to his house, I have to go by this street (Acushnet Avenue) which is known for trouble and young kids in cars looking for trouble....

So as I'm driving I see a cop on a side street....and think to myself "Great...This guy is gonna give me trouble". Sure enough, I see him cut the guy in back of me off....then as soon as there was room, lights on - spotlight on - cop with maglight in my face asking for license and registration.

Long story short - Cop was, well...not nice but yet cool....and said Quote "This is the MOST ILLEGAL tint job I'VE EVER SEEN!!!"......so $250 dollars later, I was out of there.

Now he said since he's never seem me there (on that street) that , if i ripped the tint off in the back, and showed up in the station, i could appeal the ticket and he would drop the charge.

now i'm sad cause i LOVE the tint in the back....that's what sets the car IMHO.

I have some options already (Thanks Mark ) but am looking for more options.

Another thing - Can a cop in MA pull you over JUST FOR TINT? I didn't think so but this guy did.

Twas an early night for me....that bummed me out big time. I could go with a 35% sheet to make it the same as the fronts (32%) **rears are 10% ** .... but now I'm depressed.

Elky - no worries....I told him i did the tint myself....although he said "This looks like a professional job to me and i have a feeling you shouldn't have gotten a sticker" but i said "no sir, i did the tint myself a few months back."

Just goes to show why I HATE this state. Cops here are absolutely worthless pricks who are determined to screw EVERYONE over. If you know what ive been through lately youd know im not kidding either

You could switch the plates on your cars and bring the SE to show them and get out of it! Sounds crazy but it just might work. I never had this problem in Florida and I had 3%, yes T-H-R-E-E percent limo tint.

Well your not going to want to hear this but your best bet is too take it off. If you try to switch your plates you could get royally Fd' over big time all for tint. I know it sux cause the tint does look awesome, but if you dont rip it off your bound to get more sh*t from someone else further down the road, its inevidable. Welcome to Assachusetts. The thing is we just gotta deal with it....as we know we all LOVE the front plate BS.

All of the problems going on in New Bedford, this guy decides to focus on illegal tint. That's good to hear. It's nice to know he's cleaning up the streets.

Hope everything works out OK. This is just another reason why I try to avoid New Bedford at all costs.

I'm not going to do the plate switching thing...if my other Contour was Black, I would in a heartbeat!

FYI...
If I get pulled over (after I either pay the ticket or challenge it) two more times, I lose my license for 90 phucking days! this state is a joke.

That really sucks im sorry gr8svt, my freind got pulled over on the high way by state and they made him take it off right there in front of him, he was so pissed...my girl got pulled over in ct and they said she had to take it off till they saw it was registered in MA, cop said they cant do anything about it becasue its registered out of state....i have 5% on back windows and nothing on front ones, i dont understand their reasoning for the tint, why is it illegal for the back windows???

I got pulled over in my old Accord by a state trooper, just for tint, and it was only 20%. It was 8:00am and I was driving my dad to work. He was going the opposite directions on the road I was on and turned around just to pull me over for tint. I only had the tint on for like a month. I was sooooo mad! He made me remove the tint w/in 72 hrs and bring it to an inspection place to get it "approved"! Oh, well! What can you do?!

I honestly thought/think the rears dont matter. Its the fronts that show the driver in question. After all, limosines get away with it. MI can tint the windows in the back just not the front. You might find a loophole here Hugo. Because it was nighttime, cop may have thought it was same tint all the way around.

I know in FL, they carry around a tint meter and measure the % right in front of you.

the guy measured the tint right there and then.
10% on the rears and 32% on the fronts.

i looked up state laws and it is 35% all around.
front windows, rear windows and rear windshield.
front windshield can only be 6 inches long.

oh well. still deciding. i might just rip it off although its gonna be such a phucking biatch to rip off.....
