Contour Enthusiasts Group Archives Forums General General Went and saw the Turbo SVT (Lotsa PIcs, dialup beware)

I'm gonna have to say that everyone has threw in their two cents about this car. Which by any means is a fine piece of craftsmanship! I must disagree with all those people who have said that the turbo is too big and it's impracitcal and blah blah blah. Needless to say, there is no such thing as having a turbo that is too large, if you seem to think so, then may you putt putt down the street forever. I agree, some of the car is impractical, but very nicely setup as well. If the intercooler piping weren't so big as well as the intercooler, the bumper would fit. Half that intercooler would be plenty with smaller piping and you'd already have plenty ground clearance. (As if that is something you should be worried about anyway, for all you with BAT suspension and so on) I must say that the welding job right behind the MAF is quite possible the worst i've ever seen....so in turn i figure it could be place higher up on intake pipe (making that 45 degree bend not necessary) as well as the filter so they are both pointint downwards, quite possibly then it wouldn't stick out to 600 feet in front of the car. The guys that put this together seemed to be clever enough to put something like this work....how can they not think of putting that filter higher. I think with that smaller intercooler and the filter moved upwards on the intake pipe....the stock bumper can easily fit with a bunch of cutting. Probably bolt on like crap, but hey, it's alomst as if it's going to fall off anyways when it's new, so who gives a crap. I am truly amazed at how nice all that stuff can fit in that engine bay.

Also, to those who think the turbo is too big, once (or if) these boys put a low comression head gasket and some forged pistons in, the car has potential of over 400HP with more PSI. Like 20PSI even. (drivetrain work needed respectively) Oh, but i forgot....your little turbo can't seem to make pressure like that, and if it could, it's unusable boost anyway.
