Bad Apple:

I went through a very similar situation w/ my first girlfriend. I loved her so much that it hurt. I thought about ending my life after she broke up with me.

As others have mentioned, I just got through life one day at a time. It was extremely difficult at first, but over time it gets better.

That was about 20 years ago. About 5 years ago, I was finally blessed with a wonderful woman that is now my wife.

When I get depressed, I like to watch movies. My favorites are "Shawshank Redemption", "Forrest Gump", and "It's A Wonderful Life". I highly suggest watching them. They will help you put a proper perspective on life.

Keep the faith and hope alive.

I'll say a prayer for you and your situation. Hopefully other prayers will follow.

You might have forgotten, but He already did come down and fix everything over 2000 years ago!

Jesus was born, lived ~30 years, and then gave up His life when He was crucified.

His crucifixion "fixed everything" by taking all of our sins unto Himself.

The only thing that we need to do is accept Him as our Saviour and our sin is transferred.

This is basically the whole story behind John 3:16:
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life."

And lest we forget, He will be back... smile

I think the point was to help him do activities to get his mind off this chick.
besides, church girls are an untapped resource.
them chicks are just dying to rebel.
wink
go for it dude!

my advice, and this may sound harsh and cold-hearted, but learn some mind control and STOP THINKING ABOUT HER!
you can do it so don't say it's impossible.
you're only allowing yourself to dwell in thoughts of her when that certain song comes on the radio or you happen to be driving thru her neighborhood.
definitely find ways to distract yourself.
don't purposefully bring yourself down by moping about her.
she's in the past, you need to let go.

everyone deals with these experiences and I think they only serve as learning experiences.
it'll help ya deal with the next chick that comes along and breaks your heart.
and you know they will, cuz they're EVIL.
laugh

Like Rara said, it's gonna take time, my man... seriously. I'd wager that 99% of the folks on this board have had their hearts broken at least once in their lives. God knows I've been there.

You need to seek out the things you really like to do. Music?? Hit some concerts in the area. Always some good-looking broads at a show (unless you're seeing Dream Theater or some other chick-repelling band) laugh Sports??? Get some friends together and join a softball/volleyball/bowling/whatever league. Drinking?? Grab some buddies and go to a local watering hole. The point is to get out and have fun. And this:

i was lucky to even get her
is BS. I don't want to hear that out of you. Do not short-change yourself, 'cause women will smell a guy with low self-confidence a mile away. She might have been a great girl, but if she broke up with you IT'S HER LOSS, not yours. That's the attitude you've got to start taking. Plenty of other ladies out there who will see the same things the ex saw in you, you just have to get out there and allow yourself to be seen and met.

I don't think they let us bring our cars to heaven.

Which is why even if life sucks, really, really sucks, I can still crack a smile once I go a few lengths in my Contour.

Nothing lasts forever, my man. Not your grief, not anyone's happiness. Take it slow, hour by hour if you have to.

Make yourself find a reason to WANT to go on. I've always thought that even in our darkest moments, there still in all of us is hope and potential that there will be sunny days ahead.

To detail the Contour, of course.

Seriously, though. Life is a precious gift. Be thankful for all of the fun times you've had with EVERYONE in your life, enjoy your hobby (Contour.org) and eventually you'll hopefully see that things will get better.

As the Beatles once sang, you'll get by with a little help from your friends. And it's also getting better every day.

first of all, let me just say... we're glad that you didn't just keep this inside - you need to get these feelings out and deal with them. To get to that next level, you need to find a close friend (or family member) and talk about this - we (CEG) are a pretty close knit crew, but nothing replaced face-to-face time with someone who can listen to you...

i realize things are hard right now for you, trust me - i know what this feel like, but you have to remember that your future is waiting for you... make it better than you ever thought it could be! someday you'll look back at this and be thankful that you worked through it, life is tough sometimes - and the best people make it through the worst stuff!

i agree that religion can help you put some perspectives on things, but i won't push that subject - it's a personal choice.

I hope someone crosses your path today to help you get through this time... hang in there!

Some might laugh at this referal to a former post but I think it's worth some thought. As I recall that post was on how gay you are and the higher you scored the more sensitive traits you had (if you are a guy). Now consider Bad Apple's former g/f going into the Navy. I'm not making judgments on women in the Navy. They didn't have any on ships (except hospital ships) when I was in the Navy so I didn't know any. However, people who go into the service are generally looking for adventure and I guarantee some adventure if you're in the Navy and get shipped out to the fleet somewhere. To tie this all together, to me it seems like perhaps their personalities were mismatched. She probably wasn't in the market for a kinder, gentler boy friend but somehow couldn't bring herself to tell him.

Well, that's my two cents. Recommendation? Same as most of the others have said. Get out there and get busy with stuff that'll take your mind off of her. After awhile you should be fine. They say time heals all wounds. I've found that to be a fairly accurate statement. wink

Fair enough. Your faith is your faith. Great. I personally don't go for any of it and it amuses me that whatever the problem someone has, someone else will always say "Seek Jesus" or similar.

Why ? If Jesus was the solution to all our problems, there would be no problems as folks like yourself would've prayed enough by now to solved the world's woe's 10x over.

Maybe I'm missing something but to make your prayers come true, you need to get off your knee's.

BTW, I hope this stays civil as these posts usually end up attracting a lot of attention.
