For the money the CSVT is the way to go, period If you get one and drive it for a while, you'll see why its one of the best sleeper values around anywhere

get a MTX Zetec and get a turbo from terry and you won't have any problems

As long as you understand the Contour is NOT A DRAG CAR, you'll be extraordinarily happy.
The moment you fool yourself into thinking otherwise, your problems will start.

Get a zetec. They seem more reliable than the V6's. You can pick up a pretty good used one for cheap throw a turbo, intake, exhaust, and possibly NOS and you can being going faster than a SVT for cheaper. MY car is a drag car. You can also make it into a drag car for about $2000.(a slow one though)

SVT...seriously. Not much difference with SE??? Was a plug wire disconncted on the SVT? Both are nice but honastly, to feel the difference you need to take her to redline, 7000 RPM near peak power for SVT but SE power curve dropping like a stone. The revability is the fun part. Zetec Contour needs forced induction to break 15s, V6 reliablity is not worse if you take some precations - dual mode damper, 6.0quarts synthetic, water pump upgrade. Easier than zetec head gaskets Max is just slightly quicker but non independent rear suspension and subpar brakes. SVT handles much better. Same for GTP, too heavy.

I have had my SE sport since Feb and I love it. I have noticed more problems posted with some of the older models...I have had none yet....Honestly though, it comes with just about any car you buy...they just aren't made like they used to be. The most regular problems I have read about here are moossing and water pump failure- both easy fixes. Good luck on your Decision. The only thing I would have done differently would have been to get an SVT or an MTX (I have an automatic). I am going to be getting the front and rear bumpers and side skirts for my SE...(my wife likes the way it looks)

...the closest I will ever get to having a Turbo will be the Gillete Mach 3 variety!!!

I'd get an SVT because the handeling is great and the looks you get let you know you're driving a cool car. I thought about the v-8 sho, but gas mileage wouldn't be as good and insurance was roughly twice as much. I'm serious when I say you will look for the two lane roads that wind around alot not too long after you get it. it's a sweet car.
Old - 95.5 SE with lot's of mods. New - 98 Black SVT with few mods.
