I think I may go with the headers.
Since I am a little nervous about gutting my pre-cats, I tried looking into used units and found that used pre-cats are not available with the catalyst for legal issues. So that leaves me with having to buy new and I have been quoted roughly $250 for the rear and $350 for the front.
So if you include the work and time the headers are close to the same price, in my perspective that is.
