I wanna see the finished pics of the car, especially the custom made bumper it will have to have so the intercooler will work its best wink That little vent on the fender looks really good and he should look into getting the Aussie hood vent mod too, because I'm sure that will thing will need to vent eek I do have to echo the comments about the yellow though and ask "WHY  " I wonder if the final drive ratio was changed to higher gearing like a 3.50-3.70, can you say 160mph CSVT cool

The 4.06 final drive is geared to right around 160mph.

143mph is the drag limited speed for the SVT, not gearing limited.

I'm no turbo expert neither, but I'm curious on finding out why all these turbo have different designs.
I doubt there is enough room to put the cooler in between the radiator and the bumper, and if there is, you probably will have a hard time running the piping. (more custom piping, more $$$)

That alone would be a project in itself, not to mention you'd block quite a bit of air that was bound to hit the radiator. What's cooler air good if you're overheating sitting in traffic? Then again, I can't/won't say how that would be affected, since I certainly didn't run any tests w/ a intercooler sitting right in front of the radiator.

IMO (again, not a turbo expert), you get the water/air cooler because of packaging, and the water/air cooler is more efficient (at one point or another) than a front mount air/air intercooler, not to mention probably a lil cheaper.

Ya'll experts, feel free to correct me.

You are correct John. We are using a Spearco water/air intercooler that is mounted in the engine bay. As you can plainly see in this example, plumbing a front mounted air/air intercooler is VERY ineffecient. Water/air IC mounted directly to the TB is a very short path compared to this latest example.

I would have to agree with a few of the posters here. That dyno plot is not what you would want to have. The peak HP is nice, but way to Peaky and far up in the range.

I also have to address the other poster who points out "they don't have a mandrel bender" This causes power losses, the piping in this install just plain sucks. check out the connection at the intercooler-the silicone connector is kinked, that is bad. Not what I would expect from a professional shop. Nice peak numbers though. with some work they can smooth it out nicely.

Don't forget everyone, this is more for R&D. A final product would be much more 'non-ghetto' than this. Still can't wait for a finished product. smile

Just wondering, Chris. What about small horizontally mounted air-air IC that goes right below the engine and have some kind of ram air? Like I said, I'm just curious in why you choose what you chose in your kit.

AK, go do some reading about the differences between air to air and water to air intercoolers. You obviously don't understand the dynamics of the situation or the differences between the two types of intercooler.

It's all about balance.

Air/Air coolers need free flowing cool air on BOTH sides in order to work right?

Did you miss the entire part about overheating the engine do to lack of flow through the radiator???

Have you ever looked at the clearance between the front bumper cover and the front support?
Where would the pipes route through! (you'll notice the SVT pictured is missing a chunk of its front fender!)

Ahem... The SVT uses a sandwich oil cooler mounted behind the oil filter. It's water to oil. Not air to oil!

BTW - that's a double negative...
