I think it says something about that in the manual about how an SVT dealer is not necessary for regular maintenance, etc.
I think there was a good discussion on it in the General forums.

In any case, Mike gets his serviced at my Lincoln Mercury dealer, so I would say no, you don't have to go to an SVT dealer.
