To answer everyone's questions in some kind of order...
1) They had to "measure" my dash to see if it was warped enough to warrant replacement. Which, in my case, meant that the passenger side of the dash was actually high enough to touch the bottom of the windshiled, and the defroster vent being peeled away from the dash for a good 6".
2) It is an official recall....look in our home page at contour.org and look under the recall or tsb section...also if you search under "problems" here on forums, there will be a number. It really doesn't matter, because as long as you own a 99-00 model, it MUST be at least inspected by a dealer.
3) And Yes, they are an SVT/Saleen dealership (they have a cool 2000 Cobra R in the showroom
) It is about 1/4 mile away from Bob's on the same side of the road.
