Well, I have confirmed the rumor that the TH fix causes a loss in power to certain Duratecs today...
Background info: My engine calibration is RJL1, with many mods, including SVT calibration, 19 lb injectors, etc... (TH fix as well)
Alex has a bone stock SE with exhaust mods, that's it. (NO TH Fix!!)
and Alex and I were racing at the strip today, and for some reason, every time we started, he was beating the pants off me until we were well into secondary territory. Once I had the momentum going, I'd be gaining pretty hard, but off the line he was killing me, time after time, after 5 runs.
We took a break after, and I was racking my brain, trying to figure out why I had such horrible low end power, when the possibility dawned on me... the TH fix. I promptly removed it, we ran again, and guess what... he never took the lead.
Gerald was visiting Montreal this weekend, so he witnessed the whole thing. I won't be putting that thing back in anytime soon... at least not when I'm at the track.
So, in short, TH fix is great for driveability, but leave it at home when you want to race. I'll probably substitute it with a hose clamp and have an adjustable restriction instead in the future, if I put it back at all.
Just wanted to share my findings...
