today i replaced the rear brake shoes on my escort. This car has ~113k on it. What a pain in the you know where to do them. After i broke a stud trying to take off the tire i had to go and buy another stud. I found out after breaking the stud that the lugs were over torqued (pitting visible on the seats of the lugs).

So i took the drums off and took a bunch of springs off to loosen the shoes, then put the new ones on.

Thank god everything worked out well and i dont have to do anything else..

If you have drums in back, i recommend asking someone how to pull them off because they are probably rusted on. It was pretty easy to take them off after i used a bolt and tightened it into the loosing holes...(2 on each drum to help take the drum off.)

Someday i will have a better ford (cough contour cough) with disks on all 4's.
