I found the stock KDWs to be a good performer but VERY noisy. I have fitted some Sumitomo HTRZ-IIs onto my 17" ASA rims, and those tires are way quieter, and have proven to be a very competent performer as well. I would highly recomend them. I was able to do 17" rims with the tires, mounted/shipped for 1200.00
Perhaps you may want to follow JSmith's advice and get some winter tires...you could get some decent winter tires, and fit them on the stock SVT wheel, and then do a plus 1 fitting in the spring...best of both worlds if you can swing it!
