Well, I went today to get my car inspected and it's running beautiful....BUT - the tint came back to haunt me. I had a conversation with the guy before he got into my car and asked him what he thought about the tint and he said "Looks good to me....Sometimes I don't even look at it." I said "Good, because I don't want the thing to fail just because of the tint....that would suck...if it's gonna fail, let it fail for emissions reasons" and get this..HE AGREED!! So I said alright, heres my registration and 29 bucks.
About 20 minutes later he comes out with what I thought was a number 10 for the month on the sticker but as he drove up to me, he said "It failed for the tint...It's too dark." I just looked at him stumped. I tried bribing(sp?) him a little but that didn't work. He said "If you want, I can help rip it off!" I said, "umm.NO!!!" That's when the Portuguese came out and I pretty much tore into him like crazy! Calling him every 4 letter word I could think of....
Now that I've had time to cool off, I realized that what I did was unecessary. What got me upset was the whole conversation before the inspection and the end result. The car is running sooo clean...0006 reading of HC PPM at idle and 2500 RPM (limit 0220) and a 00.00 reading of CO % at idle and 2500 RPM (limit 01.20). So, the car is running sweet - just that the tint came and bit me in the a$$. I have 60 days to get re-inspected (for free at the same place) but I don't want to resort to ripping the tint off. I love that tint. If worse comes to worse, I'll rip it off, get it inspected, go get it re-tinted. But - I'll have to go through this every year!..(which would suck). (He also said the front windshield tint was too far down)
So - any suggestions? ANyone know anyone who does inspections and wouldn't mind the tint?! I wouldn't mind paying another 29 bucks to get it re-inspected.....

hugo that really sucks man, sorry to hear about the failed inspection due to the tint. i can't think of much that would piss me off more, especially when you talked to the guy first. i'm not sure what type of suggestions i have for you, my last car was illegally tinted and i have a place out here that doesn't care. althgough, that was almost two years ago now...but anyhow, if you're interested in the name just let me know. again, sorry to hear about it. that would really suck if you were to have to rip the tint out, i personally wouldn't. i didn't on my last car when i was told that i was going to fail. keep looking, there are defintetely places that will pass the dropped to the ground, tinted out svt

well - I just got word that my cousin who HAD cancer!!!!! HAS BEEN GIVEN THE CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH!!! She had Cancer a few years ago and I found yesterday that she has been in the hospital for a few days now....getting tests and the doctor says it's gone away!! All that chemo... At least it worked and my cousin is HEALTHY NOW!! Kinda puts the tint situation in perspective doesn't it? Who gives a flyin f*ck about it......Damn, I can be kinda selfish sometimes...Here I am all pissed off and yelling at the guy...(well, he kinda deserved it in a way) Today isn't so bad after all!! Yeah - I'll keep lookin for a place. I'm sure there is someone who is just as corrupt as I am! Later!!!

oh yeah - and when I told my girl about the situation - I got SUCH A LECTURE..."I shouldn't be illegal....You're always talking about how you can't see out the back at night.....You should take it off and don't spend anymore money....." Man, I hate MID-TERMS!! She's studying and can get a little fiesty!!(sp?).... That's what I love about her!! Goto bed? I agree that you were a little rough on the inspector. He was just saying his opinion, but by asking about it he bacame suspicious and checked into it. The light meter doesn't lie. I think you put yourself up for that one.

Register the car here in Michigan and forget about those bull**** inspections every year. I think that is another money scam the goverment is running on us.
