Thats not true. Contours can go forever if maintained. My Contour has 261,000k on it with the original engine, tranny, clutch etc. In fact the only thing that has been replaced is the Cat under recall. I change my oil every 4000-5000k and just do regular maintanance. And everything still runs great. The engine is strong and runs well, no vibrations, no idle looping etc. The tranny doesn't slip, grind, pop out of gear.
But at 11,500 that guys got to be off his tree! That car isn't worth more then 6000-6500 cnd.
