I know most of us use Mobile 1 synth but what filters do you use. I normally use Fram Double Guard. Is there something better? The reason I ask is the Fram filters are $3 OFF at Crappy Tire this week and I was going to pick up a couple.

K&N Oil Filter part # HP-2010. That's the only oil filter I use.

Most people on these boards say that the Ford filter is actually the best one for this car. I use it and have no complaints.

About 3 years ago, we had the pleasure of meeting a CEG member from Kansas City, Peat Romano, whom came to visit our little CEG group at the time. Back then, he and other KC CEGrs saw testing of various filter brands used on our Contours, including Motorcraft, Purolator, Fram, etc. Those results showed that in fact the Motorcraft was the best oil filter of the bunch. This included the number of pleats inside the filter, which was greater than the competitor's brands. I am not usually a supporter of OEM oil filters, but that is what I use in both of my Contours. Of course, since that time, other manufacturers, such as K&N have brought out oil filters too. Can't really say anything about those filters as I have never used them.

The ford filter in Canada is the same as the one sold at UAP/NAPA. Made by WIX (Or is it Dana?). Ford USA uses a different maker.

stay away from Fram , especially the Teflon one (double gard is double trouble)
