Thanks for all the congrats guys. Ghosst you can borrow it when I'm done with it, on second thought I think I'll be burried in it. So here's the scoop.
Last Friday I email the seller on ebay.ca and ask a few questions. He replies and tells me that it is his wifes car and he is selling it for her. He gives me his phone # and tells me to call to make an appointment to see the car if I would like. I call right away and make an appointment to go see the car last Friday at 7:00pm. When I arrive to see the car I am greated by an elderly gentleman and the first thing I think is "This is his wife's car? If he is this old how old is she?". Sure enough the car was in immaculate showroom condition. One problem though, it won't start. Fuel pump was shot. Here is the reason. The car has only ever been summer driven. It was last on the road in October of last year and has been parked since. The reason for this is that the lady has developed a bad left hip and can no longer drive stick. I'm thinking this is too good to be true.
Anyway the opening bid on ebay was $20,000 CDN. I ask the gentleman if this is his reserve or is he looking for more. He looks me straight in the eye and says I won't take less than $18,000. I'm thinking eek OMFG I can't believe this. After a very brief discussion with my wife we decide this is too good to let go. I ask the gentleman what he needs to hold the car for me and he says, "a handshake". Needless to say I shook his hand and the deal was made.
Now the fun begins. The car had to be towed to Erinwood Ford to have the fuel pump replaced and to be certified and smoge tested. This was on Saturday. On Monday it is confirmed that the pump needs to be replaced but needs to be ordered in. 3 to 5 days they say. Well this was the longest 3 to 5 days of my life. In the end the car was repaired and all on Thursday and I picked it up after work but was too late to get to the ministry (closed at 7 on Thursday). So that all had to wait until today.
Well I am now very happy to say that I am the proud owner of a 1999 Contour SVT # 84 of 2760. I would love for you guys to get a look at it. Just let me know and I'll be happy to meet up. Sorry it took me so long to post this but can you blame me? I'm going to sleep in my car now. Just Kidding. laugh
