Well, to say the least I am really pissed witht he lack of quality in Ford products. My car was built in May of 1999 and purcahsed in October 1999. Every October/November, before the first snow I have had my car rust protected by Krown and during the winter monts it is driven at most 3 days a week. Even more rarely when there is alot of snow.
Here's were it gets better (or worse for me). 3 weeks ago when I was putting my new rims on, I noticed rust specks in the paint in the rear fender wells. This I was not too concerned with although it did annoy me. Later I noticed the there were some signs of corrosion near the bottom of the weather stripping on the bottom of my windows. Now to top it al off and the thing that really pisses me off is Today when I was looking under my hood, I notced some rust/corrosion near on the seams on the underside of the hood (where the reinforcing is attached to the hood skin). I too a better look and poked it with my thumbnail and the paint seemed like it was going to flake off. WTF is going on? the damn paint is bubbling!!!
Considering that my car is less than 3 years old (2 years and 10 months) I do not feel that is should be happening, espically since I have the car rust protected every year. I am very hesitant to go to the dealer that the car was purcased from (Markville Ford) since they are the biggest bunch of tight azzes. I'm thinking that I should go to Dixie Ford since I have heard good things about their service (at least better than any other dealer). I don't think that I should have to deal with this since I belive that Ford just did one of their quality paint jobs we've all heard of.
Please help me and tell me what I should do. Should this be some sort of warranty thing? I know Ford had done poor paint jobs on other cars and fixed it under warranty.

I'm not sure about the details but its worth looking into and maybe someone else can offer more input, but I believe that Ford has a corrosion perforation warranty. I'm not sure when it came into effect or how long it is good for but I do think that one exists.

You may want to check with Krown too. They warranty no rust as long as you own the car and certain other stipulations, but I am sure that if you meet those that they may be of some assistance too. I dont believe I have any rust, at least that I have noticed and my car get drive a heck of a lot more than yours does in the winter.

Krown has a warranty against new rust forming since the car was first coated. It only counts if you follow their warranty guidlines (not sure what they entail exactly).
I also have some rust along the passenger side of the hood seam, and along the bottoms of the doors. Hopefully, the spray I used should stop it from going any further.

Sorry to hear that man. I do think that this is a common problem with Silver and White cars though. The paint never gets warm enough to drive out the moisture in the panels. That is why I like darker colored cars. But after only three years?? Not normal if it is as bad as you say it is. Talk to Ford for sure! Good luck man. My tour never had even a slight inkling of rust in 4 yrs, with heavy salt driving every winter.

Thnaks for the advice. Luckily I still have all my recipts for my rust protection. I'm going to go to Krown first and see what they say and maybe get a little more ammo for Ford if I need it.
One big question though......do I have to go to the dealership where the car was purchased? I'd rather sever all ties with them and go to somewhere like Dixie Ford if possible.

Yeah, tell me about it. Markville has absolutely the worst customer service I've experienced anywhere. I mean, despite all these new measures Ford has taken to ensure "the best customer service", it's abyssmal how they treat you there. I've also heard good things about Dixie. I don't think you have to go to Markville...any dealership should be able to handle your warranty claims (of course, maybe it has to be an SVT dealership...I don't know...) Maybe I should check for rust on my SVT...

I dont think you have to go to your original dealer. Any will do. Just keep in mind that no dealers are perfect. Some are worse than others. I have had no problems with Dixie or Summit but I know others who have. So just go in there with as much information as you can and ask questions and follow up with them. Good luck.
