I agree with some of the things Rydell is saying. Our Zetec was underperforming and we did a few general maintenance items and some of the power was restored. Seeing is an 1996, besides doing the throttle body cleaning you may want to check to see if your fuel filter was ever replace, I got a lot back from changing ours after 4 years of abuse (would recommend changing it every 1-2 years in the future).
