Sometimes a thump in the rear is caused by the emergency brake cables bumping on the trailing arms. Usually the cable housing is tie wrapped to the trailing arms. The tie wrap will break over time and the cables become loose. As the suspension moves up and down, the trailing arms and the brake cables hit.

Just a thought as this what happened to my SE.
