hello all, well i'm selling you guys out very soon! You see i'm getting a 97 or 98 Audi A4. Haven't decided if i want the 1.8t or the 2.8 engine. I can't begin to tell you how many hours I have spent on the internet looking for the answer to that problem. The 1.8t is a great tuner car, but I don't know if I want a turbo. A chip in the 1.8t will blow away a stock 2.8 though. S**t I don't know?! Anyways I will be selling my 97 contour se sometime in March. If any of you are interested or know someone that wants to buy one let me know at......... jirkipi@hotmail.com
Thanks, Paul
P.S. I can't wait to race you guys. Would I still be allowed to come out to the meetings, or is that against the rules?

A difficult choice, I see. Either way you can't go wrong. The 2.8L 30v V6 is excellent and the 1.8t is very smooth as well. However, I do hope you are getting the Quattro. If getting a '98, you might want to get an early '98 rather than a '98.5 as something in the rear suspension on the later ones is not as beefy and could crack. I don't remember exactly what it was but you should be able to find the answer at http://www.audiworld.com Another thing to keep in mind is that the 1.8t is geared a bit shorter than the 2.8. My friend has a '98 2.8Q MTX and his 3rd gear is almost as tall as 4th in the Contique. What this means is that if you chip the 1.8t to the power levels as the 2.8 (~190hp), the 1.8t should still be faster due to the shorter gearing and lighter weight. On the downside, the 1.8t will be turning at higher RPMs on the highway. Good luck, and let us know what you end up getting.
Black '98.0 GL V6/MTX, tints, SVT airbox (sans fender boot), stock muffler replaced with spiral racing muffler, A6 side markers, Cougar 16" polished wheels w/ bald 205/50/16 Yoko A520's, Mobil 1 5W30, Castrol SATF/Ford FM tranny cocktail, 9005 high-beam bulbs all around, re-aimed stock foglights

Hey Paul,
Sorry to hear that you have decided to trade in your tour, albeit the A4 is a nice ride.
You will always be welcomed to our meets, who knows, maybe a few races might break out...hehe
Good luck in your decision, you'll probably be happy with either option, just try and figure out which one suits you better.

The audi a4 Quattro is an awsome car. They used it in the btcc touring car races, so something must be good about it, right? Also the quattro system was banned because it was deemed "an unfair advantage" If you do get it, have fun!!!

You could also wait a little bit and pick up a 225 HP 3.0L A4 which is coming out soon... The car is said to be significantly stiffer, for a more engaging driving experience (this I feel is missing from the current A4). More of the suspension is aluminum on the new car, and Audi is finally offering a 17" wheel/tire package with credible performance rubber from the factory. Unless you really like the look of the older car, or this is "The Time", I'd put it off... T.

The 1.8t has a factory race head available, as well as bigger intercooler. With that and a chip you can blow away alot of vehicles. I would get the 1.8t
Just call me Judge. People suck. Life begins at 170mph...until that point it is just boring.....
