Hello!

I am the proud owner of a 2000 SVT from just south of the border. I do some work in Toronto, and have need for some "simple" service.

I usually change the oil myself, but I was in Georgia a few weeks ago and had to visit "Master"lube. I tried to switch to Mobil 1 over the weekend, and slightly stripped the drainplug while trying to remove it (I didn't think drainplugs required 150lbs of torque, but I guess I'm wrong). Thus, I am forced to take it to a dealer to have the plug removed and replaced.

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for reputable Ford dealers in Toronto (preferably on a TTC route). In this particular case, it's a bit more convenient for me to take it some place in Toronto. If anyone can suggest somewhere that isn't going to screw me because of my NY plates, I'd really appreciate the assistance.

Thanks!!!

I use to work at canadian tire and they sold a plug that can fix your problem. I never looked to close at it but from what I can remember it was a hard plastic or rubber that you pushed into the oil plug hole. It then came with a new plug that fit in the rubber..it made your overall drain hole smaller but not by much. As far as ford dealers go the one I don't have a reason for hateing yet is dixie ford in missisauga...I know its not toronto but its right on the border, they do have shuttle vans and they pay for your cab fare to get back to the dealer. Its On dixie road and the # is 416-24-HOURS 416-(244-6877) they are open 24 hours from monday to friday night. Other than that I would say try Thorncrest on the Queensway..416-521-7050 (or 1-800-668-6028) I've never had a car serviced there but the guys at the parts dept are honest. Please STAY AWAY from Evans on Dundas nomatter what anyone else says!!they are horrible and you basically need to fight with them when the bill comes. Also from what I've seen Summit ford (416)741-6221 and Gateway ford give courtesy cars but I had a bad experience with gateway with my contour's steering

Thanks for the suggestion on dealers! Looks like I might give Dixie a shot...

Thankfully, it's just the 15mm exterior that's stripped. I can't get the plug out, and my lack of space and leverage caused me to round the corners of the bolt a bit. I gave up in hope that there's enough left for someone with the right tools to remove it with ease.

Thanks again!

If you go on the Ford.ca web page you can search for the SVT dealers in southern Ontario. I go to Summit Ford which is located on Hwy 27 north of the 401. They seem pretty good so far. Dixie is right off of the 401. Check out the web site because there are few around here.
