My 96 was fine once I got outside my warranty, and drove it to 127,000 miles without a problem.

My 98 was a great car. Enjoyed it.

My 00 SVT was a perpetual lemon. Two trannies, with a third one on the way.

I'm actually looking to buy another 00, but probably the Contour SE Sport v6 or a Mystique LS.

Overall, I've had a good experience with two of the 3 cars. I'd like to keep my percentage up. laugh

98 CSVT, basic mod's, my slowest car yet but still faster than the wife's Talon Tsi AWD. Not by much, though. Now if I could get the back wheels to do something....

I've had people ask me this same question.

Put me down for an unqualified 'He11 Yes!'

Almost 67k miles and it's the only reason I
tolerate my 100mi/day commute

The car is a bit of a sore point but I still love her. The best thing about it all was meeting all the friends I have met through the CEG. That kicks ASS!
I was with the DSM croud, when I had my '97 GSX, for over a year and met 1 guy who was an assclown!
If only it was easier to get the performance partrs we want, it would make it a lot nicer to own. But hey, I solved that, i made shiz for our cars and also worked out how to make stuff not originally meant for our cars, work on the Contour!
wink

Yes for sure, My 98 SVT has 66k and I have replaced the tires at 30k and spark plugs at 60k other than the mandatory oil change my car has never been to the shop. I drive 120 miles a day back and forth to work and am glad to have such a dependable car, more than I can say about the 325 I owned which stayed in the shop and as was mentioned before BMW parts and service are Very expensive, not to mention the insurance cost.My friend drives a Lexus with 62k and has nothing but trouble with it so stick with the tour, theres not much out there which is better.

I know i've posted already, but seriously, this car has delivered everything I expected, and maybe a little bit more. I am thoroughly pleased with it, and it puts a giant smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel. I always take the long way home just so I can be in my car a little longer. It seems buying a car based on it's resale value is a pretty stupid reason to buy anything. I plan to drive mine until it can't be driven anymore, and then see what money I have set aside and determine what I can do in terms of a project car. But yeah if resale value is your main deciding factor, you're better off buying anything other than an american car.
