A manual GT would pull on either a Prelude or SVT in every gear. It's called 60 more HP (tons more TQ) and only 400lbs heavier. Power to weight...
We are talking stock for stock here of course & assuming the fact the driver of the GT knew that you had to upshift at redline... :p
Also I'm not saying a highly modified Prelude or SVT couldn't run with or beat a late model stock GT. Just the number of car's that could are extremely small compared to the whole enthusiast crowd...
