The 2.9L in my Ranger takes exception to that statement! laugh I worked for Ford in the musclecar hayday. Plenty of Boss 302's, 351 and 429's plus all the CobraJet motored cars passed through our service department at one time or another. Fun stuff. Ford made great pushrod motors. If you compare Ford to GM, engine type to engine type, it's only when you get to the V8 that the comparison ends. Both manufacturers make OHC 4's and 6's. It's just that they aren't installed in every car line.

Hey, that's cool! I've got a friend that's throwing a 429 into his early 50's F-series. SCJ heads, huuuge custom cam, custom hilborn setup, backed by a toploader 4-speed. It's gonna be baaaaaaad smile

BTW, the 2.9L in my "beater" 92 Ranger 4x4 is still going quite strong at 140k miles, aside from a slight rear main seal leak. Those things are built like a rock!
