Ouch! Okay, I know what you're saying. But practically speaking, in the real world, if I can make the same power as the LS6 at 75% of the effort, which motor will last longer? Both engines are old technology according to your original quote about OHC engines and high rpm horsepower. Each of these engines gets their high output numbers two different ways. And if power is the bottom line, the V-10 wins regardless of the technology involved. 500/500/500 is nothing to scoff at.
Steve: Yeah the 2.9L take a licking and keeps on ticking. Mines got nearly 347,000 on it and I've done very little to it (outside of regular maintenance) except replace the valve cover gaskets, distributer and TFI and a couple of water pumps. It's a keeper.
