From another Minnesota CEG'er who e-mailed me... An idea for what to do... tell me what you think! I am part of the Shelby Club, and I am putting together a cruise on May 18. It starts somewhere in Apple Valley/Burnsville area, then on back roads to Owatonna, and then I will lead them to Alden, MN on backroads also. All paved or tar of course. I asked them if they would care if the Contour Group joined us, and they said "come along". It is just in the planning stages also, and expect about 10-25 cars, Performance Ford and Mercury. If you would like to put it out to the local people, and let me know if there is any interest, and I will let you know when and where it will start on Saturday, May 18. The stop in Alden, is at Tail Fins/Chrome Classics Malt Shop, on I-90. Basso Presto holds club meetings there sometimes, and it is a fun automotive place. Check out www.tailfinsmaltshop.com

Whoa SVTcarboy, that seems like quite a hike! Burnsville to Owatonna? to where? It seems like a good idea, but when can we compare cars and whatnot? How will we know where to meet? Is there a time period to meet? Hmm... could be fun...all day trip...caravan of 'tours....maybe, it just might be alright!? Get a poll. Personally, I'd rather just meet at Midway and roll up and down, intimidating the ricers! On a sidebar, you know that snowstorm we had last Thursday? Well, I was slowing down on the highway as a car was losing control in fron of me and a girl who was all of 16-17, rear-ended me and launched the SVT onto the ditch, in about 3 feet of snow! I got out to see if she was ok, and she was, but she was crying and whatnot. I went to take a look at the 'tour, and I started crying and whatnot... Rear bumper...toast.....in 3 feet of snow...where's the hook for the tow truck to hook on to so I can get out of this s**t? greeeatt! UNDER the already broken bumper! So now I have a really F**ked up bumper and a 16 year old girl w/no insurance! I need help finding a new bumper or a body shop that can repair broken bumpers (w/o using fiber or bondo, need plastic welder) PLEASE HELP!!Oh, and is anyone a practicing lawyer? I think my neck hurts.....

James, that sounds like a nice little hike on the 18th. AV-Owatanna-Alden and back. It can be done, since I know a kid from Alden that goes to school here at Hamline. That actually sounds like a decent plan(wait what am I saying- all ya'll have Duratecs and I have a Zetec, plus some performance FORDS AND MERCURY's?????). No, but it does sound like a good plan.
Chuck, sorry to hear about the SVT, check ebay, they may have bumpers on there, other than that I don't know. Sorry man.

Chuck, did you get the girl's info? You better have! If she's under 18, talk to her parents, and get both her and their butts in hot water for no insurance. Make them pay up for a new bumper and all the fixes, even if they get thrown out on the street to cover it.
Sorry to hear about the mess though.
I was submitting an idea given to me by another CEGer. We can always meet another time to gawk and BS if there wouldn't be time to that day.
To me talking at a parking lot at Midway and doing the gawk and BS is fun, but just cruising it back and forth down University is boring to me. I'd much rather get out and drive. It's up to public opinion to choose, though.
The trip is still under development, but Carl would give me that info to spread about plenty of time in advance.
I'm just throwing this up as an idea, looking for feedback, so this is the poll...

SVTcarboy, I talked to the girl's parents and they said that they would pay for the damages out of pocket and I agreed. They just said that it would take some time, and they would have the $$ by mid-April. I was kind of hesitant, but reluctantly agreed b/c my insurance is high as it is. They said that they would pay for the dealer to get a new bumper ($821.00)So I checked around and found an SVT bumper in New York for $350/+shipping. It came out to like $400 and change, which I think is a good deal. I am just waiting for it to arrive, and from there I should get it painted, and I am currently looking for a good body shop for the job, I figure that I can have them do some touch-ups on the rest of my body when I am there as well, maybe a splitter? Hmm.. not sure about the front splitter with the potholes and steep driveways. Anyways, right now I am ashamed to drive the car around. I saw another SVT on Hwy 10 near Anoka on my way to work(I work at the Olive Garden in Coon Rapids while I am in school), and the girl in the SVT just looked at me like I should be shot for letting the car go. I have snow tires/steel wheels, and I pulled the side skirt insterts out as well(I was afraid of losing them in the snow). Oh, my god it's ugly!!! It looks like a winter beater. That will change though, I am just looking for some 17's and tires, that's all I need! whoa.. this is a long post! sorry. P.S. The 18th sounds great!
