I took the tour to the dealer to get the dash replaced(recall) and the gave me a Focus as a loaner. What a piece of crap this thing was! No options except Am/Fm, little four banger. Seats with no side support to hold you butt in place. Scary when getting on the freeway. Ugly too IMO! Got my car back today! First thing I did when I got back on the road is got er up to forty in third gear tromped her down wrestle with the torque steer and in a blink we're doing seventy in a forty-five! laugh Man I love this car! It was like going from a Hugo to a BMW! Sorry to waste bandwidth just happy to have my car back. BTW dash looks OK but seems the texture on the dash is more course could just be me though.

it seriously couldnt be that bad. My parents have a Focus ZTS 5spd and that thing moves. I fit better in my car but the Focus has ABS and power locks, which mine doesn't. I like my car for the look and the feel but like my 'rents Focus for almost everything else.

IMO

I personally hate the Focus' desk chair driving position. Is it a crime to extend your legs when you drive?

I drove a Focus the year they came out, a friend down the street bought one. Being a brand new car I thought it felt really solid. The acceleration wasn't anything to write home about but it was plenty for what most drivers need. I've never been able to like the looks though, the back end is okay, the front looks like a doorstop. I'll take a contour over a focus anyday.

I drove a 2002 Focus for about a month. The Focus feels like your in a chair, like a truck seat. It's a much smaller car although has the Zetec engine. Handling is pretty good, except in snow. The EPA classification is a compact car. Can't really compare the Focus to a Contour.
